In the wake before sunrise, Saddam finally met his fate. As we watched, and waited for the confirmation he was hanged, infliction less than he ordered for the many that he slaughtered, tortured and left for dead in the open desert, yet his fate would later confirm...Saddam IS DEAD.
There is a saying that goes, "what goes around, will come around," and surely this hanging has made history, yet, it has also brought closure to the many families he inflicted pain and suffering upon. A country Iraq, yet to be developed with less trained army...and many opposition at hand, the long lived dictatorship, monarch, evil-doer is DEAD.
This could not have come at a better time, before the end of the year in our culture, and the ending of Hajj and Ramadan in theirs. However, despite the ill feelings we may have had of him, he was a soul. A dad leaving his children, and a husband leaving his wife. Sad but true .
Some may say that he deserved every thread of the rope, and to many he did. He slaughtered, tortured many in his defiant anti-psyhcosocial mind.
The question remains, will his demise make Iraq a safer country without him, will this bring a halt to terrorism, will his death be another statistic, and last, will this bring our government to assert themselves to bring our troops home?
The spectators said, he shouted out, "God is Great" to the end, some said he refused the hooded mask, the green attire, and remained in his black suit; as you can see, to the end he continued to be defiant and disrespectful of the law, but in his final breath...GOD had the last say...and if he did not turn his life around for his deadly sins he commited (for his sake)...
HIS SOUL IS IN HELL.

Death may have taken him out of this world, but he still has to face the consequences of his actions. Even if he repented, he would still have to answer for his actions. God is loving, but He is also just. On the other hand, if he didn't repent, well I would agree with you, Loretta, as to his destination.
God Bless
Love and peace

| Malcolm, God does exist whether you choose to turn the blind eye or not. As far as could He have stopped it, the question remains there is also a Devil too. Seek His face, and learn to know the GREAT I AM and ALMIGHTY. Thanks for the comment. |

| Saddam was a very bad person. Killing him though, as justified as it may seem ( I certainly do understand this) only perpetuates the cycle of violence and the idea that human problems can only be solved by killing. I doubt that Saddam was truly Godly. I don't think God exists or he/she would have stopped him in his tracks long ago before he gassed his people, invaded Iran and so on. Malcolm Watts |
