In analyzing the changes that have been implemented, new product developments, change processes, governmental actions and addressing problematic issues and concerns as it pertains to business and organizations, I will identify the implementation of new changes that still need to be addressed, as well as, discuss effective changes that are clearly, already in place - along with - their potential benefits, as it relates to competition and its effect on the industry as a whole.
Upon analyzing any organization one has to be aware of the rapid changes that are occurring like never before in the history of business, as it pertains to organizations and their capability to sustain, especially in countries such as ours, where everything pursuable, is higher than it should be and wages are lower than ever. The onset of Globalization, increase in diverse markets, scrutiny of stakeholders and the question of ethics on behalf of executives, not to mention, the decrease of wages of the common guy, has allowed for a rise in fear and apprehension as its ability to sustain increased markets and opportunities in respects to growth and revenue seem to have become an event of the past or- merely an old cliché -comparable to standing on shaky grounds. New changes that need to be addressed in organizations include self-managing teams, responsible line workers, broader work responsibilities, good leadership, communicating, etc….
Product development, we know, is all about change. Largely because of challenges that are driven to the fore-front of organizations, due to technology, trends, culture diversity, economics, and environmental concerns. Product Development is a tool that can and is starting to be used as an avenue, in an effort to realign business through such factors as external environments, consumers, markets and through the creation of good and affordable products. As customer needs change, so does an organization’s needs change. It is through a company’s sustenance that methods are used in an effort to gear a company in the direction where it can aspire -as well as -thrive to be functional. Only through the willingness and acceptance to change, can a company be allowed to survive.
As CEO & President of an organization that provides off -site contracting support services to government agencies/organizations and industries in the field of Science, Technology and Engineering, and in providing support ranging from design, analysis, assembly, fabrication, integration and testing; I know the importance of the onset of effective changes in the work place, as I begin to embark on day to day challenges in this particular company, TKT Systems (www.tktsystems.com); those challenges allow me to both- recognize and appreciate- the expertise that surrounds each and every decision that is made within my organization. The effective work changes that TKT currently has in place is implemented through guidelines that keep us focused on the important methods that we use to research the sources of superior performance, to measure product development performance, to know the industrial competition, to adhere to product development performance and to know the difference and importance of component driver products that can deem to be complex, simple or interface driven. Through experience, I have learned that it is best to adhere to the basic principles that deal largely with the challenges my company face.
The Change Process includes the many facets of organizational tools that will work to benefit a company through the positive transition to those things that will bring about beneficial change. Responsibility of employees to manage change through such factors as health, maturity, personality, experience, stability and level of motivation can prove to be an asset to organizational change. The involvement and level of imposing is also a key element in the change process as no employee wants to feel forced or feel stressed and uncertain during the sometimes grueling process of change.
The principles of understanding where you are, in respects to, where you want to be can deem a vital reality in the change process. To communicate, to become involved, to enable and facilitate the involvement process, to engage how you will get to where you want to be- are all elemental factors and methods to developing change. Trust and illustrate ideas and defuse emotional feelings, while taking the necessary steps to be encouraged, sensible, constructive and unconditioned will make the change process a win situation for any organization.
To adapt to fast changing environments entails a willingness to plan, implement, manage and require processes that are people friendly, systematically correct, culturally based and responsible. To be able to build skills in the continous process of learning and by realizing that ambiguity and uncertainty are facts of life and are apt to be a part of the characteristic of a successful business practice, the process of allowing for the ability to embrace technology, while creating opportunites through quick response and recognition of customer value, begins.
Act like an entrepreneur by being proactive (know your company’s Niche,) and by providing value to your organization. Be a fixer, not a blamer. As we embark on such large companies and because speed is undoubtedly an advantage, it has become apparent that product life cycles have become less and less durable. With many technical products being considered obsolete, in a rapidly moving climate, it is realized that by the time products hit the market, investments need only have the most rapid returns; it is no wonder that companies are moving towards low-cost production tactics.
In applying the change -model found on p. 150 exhibit 6-5, of Implementing Organizational Change, Theory Into Practice, second meditation by Bert Spector, there are certain indicators that can promote behavior that enhances long term value in respects to the duration of short-term performances that can deem detrimental to Superior performance, as it relates to product development. The change model focuses on vision and strategy, just as I have in respects to my own company, TKT Systems and also as I have related, as well as, compared my company to other more larger and much more successful companies, such as Best Buy and Goldman Sachs. Spector addresses the tools through the use of the change-model to specify those elements that are used to evaluate financial performance as it relates and is often used to guide managerial decisions. The model addresses finance, customer care, learning and growth strategies, as well as, an internal business process as it relates to one company, amongst many, that I choose to watch in general, Best Buy. While Best Buy operates as a retailer of consumer, home office, electronics, entertainment, appliances, and other well intended products and services, it is the pay through salary, bonuses, customer care, the learning and growing in and of the industry and its internal business savvy amongst other incentives that exercise value in options that keep the company thriving above all others. The superior performance can best been seen in Best Buy’s people as their trained, knowledgeable and careful customer care workmanship pertains to technical professionals, people, service workers and corporate managers. Online services is just one of Best Buys expertise in superior performance as they offer free shipping, cheapest buys in store as well as on line.
The measure of product development is also a key factor for success at Best Buy, who often uses such tools as patented inventions that are designed to help find more innovative solutions to design problems most engaged by practicing engineers, product managers, technology managers and trainees.
In knowing their industrial competition, Best Buy has recently chosen to win back market share from Wal-Mart and online retailers by revamping new stores with less clutter, while providing sales staff trained to show how all your appliances can work together, in an attempt to change the customer service experience. Best Buy is aware that product development can be difficult and complex. The collaboration process that requires coordination and innovation efforts can sometimes be a far-reaching goal. By implementing groups of professionals in Marketing, Engineering, Procurement, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Design, Supplies, Sales and Finance, there is a chance that productive efforts and rise above many stagnate obstacles and issues that may stunt growth and development.
In knowing the difference and importance of driver products, business such as Best Buy and others like them, including my company, TKT Systems, Inc. can and will stay alive and flourish in highly competitive environments. Many organizations spend time and money on methods and procedures that aid in their focus on making their products smarter, faster, smaller, more cost-effective and reliable than ever before.
