Baseball great Joe DiMaggio was on his knees crying to his friend about Marilyn Monroe divorcing him after only ten months of marriage."Why did Marilyn divorce me?" Joe cried. "Is there another man?"
"How could I tell him?" the friend told Joe's biographer years later. "How could I tell a man that his ex-wife became his ex because she found him dull?"
When asked about the divorce Marilyn said, "Joe wanted me to be the beautiful ex-actress, just like he was the great former ballplayer. We were to ride into some sunset together. But I wasn’t ready for that kind of journey yet. I wasn’t even 30, for heaven’s sake."
I use this example in my seminars on How to Live the James Bond Lifestyle to illustrate to men that being a provider and in love with a spouse or girlfriend is often not enough to hold on to them. After respect, love and security women want fun. It is the Ultimate Secret of Women that many women have verified in their interviews.
Shikra Caine, wife of actor Michael Caine was asked, "Why do you like your husband?" She answered, "Because he always wants to go do something interesting."
In a separate interview Michael Caine said, "I would be happy just working in my garden but I know that Shakira likes to have lunch with other Hollywood wives and go to events, so I make sure that I arrange that."
So instead of ending up crying on your knees, asking a friend why you became an ex-husband or ex-boyfriend, keep in mind the Cyndi Lauper song, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun". And you don't even have to be a fun guy, just arrange the fun. Be the Director of Fun.
