My Opinion about the article appeared in the New York Tiimes
It is not my intent to defend any political party, but as a Jew who survived WWII and knowing well Iran and its former leader, particularly its Prime Minister Amir Abbas Hoveyda, (who was hanged by the new regime) and many members of his cabinet, I feel compelled to express my opinion in light of what happened these few years in Iran and when I read in the New York Times that “— President Obama on Tuesday forcefully rebuked Republicans on the presidential campaign trail and in Congress for ‘beating the drums of war’ in criticizing his efforts to find a diplomatic solution to the crisis over Iran’s nuclear program, underscoring how squarely the national security issue had entered the election-year debate.”

I wonder who was beating the drum of war. I heard Ahmadinejad many, many times, not only insulting Israel and the Holocaust but clearly saying that he would eradicate Israel from the face of the earth. Unfortunately, I did not hear a single time my president saying one word to this so called “President of Iran” that he should stop beating the drum of war.
This silence during so many years shows me how Obama is projecting a weakness of America in the world and particularly in Iran. Mr. President, this is a lack of leadership and we the Jews have learned our lesson. I recall the words of Ben Gourion, saying to the young generation of officers, while talking about the holocaust:”This time, if we have to die, we will never die alone again.” After listening to Netanyahu’s speech at AIPAC, I agree with him, with what he said.
Mr. President, please do not forget that you are elected to lead and to show strength and not weakness. I understand diplomacy is better than any war, but your policy hasn’t stopped Iran from pursuing its goal of getting a nuclear bomb, for many years. Mr President, how long do you want us and Israel to wait, in order for you to find a diplomatic solution? Israel never used any single American soldier for any part of its defense.
It is a real heartbreak to see how the bloody revolutions that you encouraged in various Arab countries, including my native Tunisia and Egypt, our loyal ally, based on the blueprint of your Cairo Speech, are far from ringing in an era of democracy, but rather seem to doom those countries under new violent Islamist regimes.
