I don't know what's been going on in Connecticut lately, but for some reason it seems like there is a truly blossoming scene going on north of New York, a scene made up of DIYers that feel they have something urgent to say or who just want to make noise and get down with themselves every weekend. Whatever the case me be I am glad it is happening because it is giving us bands like the three piece known as Eula. Once again I have no idea where the name Eula came from, but goddamn can these three make some freakin' awesome sounds.Equal parts punk and new wave, with a dash of the grunge sound thrown in for good measure, Eula are making music that explodes into your brain. Eula absolutely propel themselves with their dynamic rhythm section and then stab you again and again with front lady Alyse Lamb's high-pitched, shrill voice. It's an exciting sound, one that makes you want slam dance or just plain slam things. It reminds you of youth and what youthful energy should sound like and it's so fucking good I want to scream about it from the mountains.
The band have recently put out the latest in a series of EP's called Fill Your Heart and while I've only been listening to the music on their Myspace page I can absolutely say without having heard all 6-tracks on this that it is a must add to your CD collection and should probably be on your own personal year end lists. Yeah that's right, I've heard maybe half the songs (the ones they posted) and I am so enamored I'm thinking year end lists for sure.
Over the last two weeks I have found myself reinvigorated by my Bands of the Week and I hope this keeps happening because I am so excited about these two bands I can hardly contain myself. Please do yourself a favor and check out this band right now.
