Review from CCR review
The Curse of Mephisto's Seed, Book One: The Day of Awakening

Author: William P. Haynes

Genre: Horror

Publisher: Publish America

ISBN#: 1-4137-2865-0

Trade Paperback

Pages: 192

Rate: 4

Review: This novel has a wide cast of characters including the devil's son, Elliott, his mother, Gloria, and his aunt, Cathy. The novel follows Elliott through a troubled childhood to an awakening of his true nature as Mephisto's son. People are killed and Elliott is tortured by horrible dreams. His involvement is known to the reader, but the devil's servant, dedicated to Elliott, senses that the child is not ready to claim his birthright. It is agreed that Elliott will be allowed to grow up before his true nature will be revealed to him.

The novel skips forward in time ten years. Elliott is a youth with a troubled past. His childhood is behind him, and the time has come for him to be true to his infernal parentage. As he struggles to overcome Mephisto and claim his birthright, the humans in his life fight to survive.

Enter Mark and Josh, human law enforcement agents with a destiny of their own. Mark is the adversary chosen by fate to oppose Elliott's plans to rule the world of Humans. Elliott succeeds in conquering hell, but will he defy fate and dominate Humanity? As the host of characters line up to be counted on one side or another, the reader is carried along to witness this epic struggle.

Filled with incredible visuals, packed to the brim with passion and plotted with finess, the novel takes us on a journey through the lands of Devil and Man. Imagery abounds, as the character Mark finds his own powers, and uses them to fight Elliott and rescue Cathy from Mephisto and Elliott. The ending, while truimphant, leaves us with a sense of chill and dread, as Elliott proves to his human counterpart that he is not to be counted out so easily.

Fast paced and compelling, this novel takes us on a non-stop trip through territory unexplored. We witness acts of bravery and live through moments spiced with terror. The characters and prose shine. I give it a solid 4.
