"There are many areas of Christian thought, and because thought then is also life, where likenesses and differences are so difficult to distinguish, we are often hard put to it to escape complete deception. So skilled is error at imitating truth that the two are constantly being mistaken for the other."

A.W. Tozer
("Error and Truth Travel the Same Highways")

Some writers like to "put" into the Bible things that are not there, presumptions and assumptions devoid of proof and not backed up by specific verses. It appears seemingly harmless but there is a line between truth and error and the two never mix.

When read as is, the Bible looks more like a story book, as it contains fantastic stories the rational mind cannot take as fact, as in Numbers 22:21-34, where Balaam's donkey speaks, in I Samuel 28:1-25, King Saul consults the witch of Endor, in I Kings 17:1-6, the prophet Elijah was fed by the ravens, and taken up in chariots of fire and horses of fire (I Kings 2:11-14) and so on.

Just what is the Bible? Some call it the "good book" (as if it had done anything to be good.) Actually it is the Written Word of God, and it is "God-breathed" although written by men, and it is more than just a "book" for information and academic study. Those who read it as just a book never get to understand the revelation of God therein, the "rhema word", because there is no discernment or the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

"The man without the Spirit of God does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them because they are spiritually discerned."
(I Corinthians 2:14)

Moses told the Israelites before he died:

"Take to heart all the words I have solemnly declared to you this day, so that you may command your children to obey carefully all the words of this law. They are not just idle words for you- they are your life."
(Deuteronomy 32:46)

As God told Jeremiah:

"Is not My Word like fire" declares the Lord, and "like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?"

The Bible is "like a fire" because it purifies one's thoughts and "like a hammer" because it rebukes and convicts one of sin.

Jesus Christ declared in John 6:63-
"The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life."

"But when He, the Spirit of Truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth." (John 16:13)

"Sanctify them by the truth; You Word is truth." (John 17:17)

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God
may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

So we can see that although the early Christians wrote the Bible, they were under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. There cannot be any doubt on what the four evangelists Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John wrote in the New Testament about the life of Jesus Christ.

The writings of the Apostle to the Gentiles, Paul, later followed and detailed the birth of the early Church.

In the Book of Hebrews, the writers wrote thus:

"For the Word of God is living and active. Sharper than a double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."
(Hebrews 4"12)

Because the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, there is no "hit-and-miss" or
"trial and error" in its contents. It is precise, definite and clear. There are no hidden mysterious or hypothetical
possibilities in its truth. If God says there He is against witchcraft, mediums and spiritists, it is there.

"Do not practice divination or SORCERY"
(Leviticus 19:26)

"Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists for you will be defiled by them." (Leviticus 19:31)

Paul warned his disciple Timothy:

"Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself to be godly." (I Timothy 4:7)

If God therefore specifically condemns sorcery, withcraft, mediums, and myths, He will never include items in His Word about these things. That would give these credibility of existence and contradict His Truth.

The way to sift truth from error is through the Word of God. Slyly, some imply that what they say is "in the Bible", never take their word for it,
look for it in the Word. If it's not there, it is not true .

Well said. We may not always understand the words of the bible, or even really get the tales told in parables and certainly revelation is a mind bender---yet these are God's words and we need to hold them to our heart until full understanding comes one day. Thanks!

As I honestly know, the Bible was written 400 years after the Crucifixion, and was rewrote a few times to please the Popes and the top Hierarchy of the times.
The Bible has been interpreted by many with many different interpretations, as the Koran is erroneous interpreted by power crazy ayatollahs and mullahs in the Muslim world with their sharia laws putting at their caprice everybody else.
The diluted Bible and Koran as been the tool of oppression used by the clergy which have nothing in common with the real Bible and Koran.
Sorry, but after seeing what the church and mosques are doing I am a little shy.
