There is an increasing passion, and intense degree of hunger and thirst in the Church today for the manifested presence of God like never before. Many are longing to experience wonders and miracles, and a supernatural demonstration of the fullness of the Spirit in their individual ministries or Churches.
While this is commendable, we must not neglect to realize that Love and unity were the key elements that defined the disciples and their works in the early Church. This act of togetherness is quite essential and significant for the Holy Spirit to freely have His way.
Acts 2:1 says “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place”.
If the church is to realize any tangible works of the Holy Spirit, or demonstrate spectacular and remarkable signs, wonders and miracles, then the lost chord of unity must be found.
We seem to have forgotten that the power of the Holy Spirit is given for one purpose. That is, to be witnesses for Christ. Acts 1:8 says “But ye shall receive power, when the Holy Spirit comes upon you and ye shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea and Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth”
We all must want the same things and be willing to come together physically and mentally for the cause of Christ. When we individualize and compartmentalize things, nothing remarkable or spectacular happens in our self consumed ministries. No wonder it seems as if signs, wonders and miracles, died with the last disciple.
There is an expectation in the world today for the church to take its place and begin to operate from the realm of authority and power. Jesus Christ worked in that realm by love. Love is the key that unlocks the door for compassion. Compassion then opens the door for miracles.
Miracles will not occur without compassion, neither will it occur for self -glorification. Compassion must flow from us to others before we can see them healed. Matthew 20:34
“… So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately
their eyes received sight, and they followed him”
This compassion comes when we take the focus off us.
Jesus is counting on us to be His hands and feet in the earth today. We have been given the power that qualifies us for ministry because we have the spirit of the Lord upon us. It is time for us therefore to manifest as true sons and daughters of the most high.
“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is on me; because the LORD has anointed me to preach good tidings to the meek; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound” Isaiah 61:1
