About the many homeless people in the USA
We as Americans will soon celebrate our independence with parades, fireworks and bar-b-que but how did we get to this point and what price did we really pay for our freedom? Is freedom really free and if this country is so grand why are there so many homeless people?
I sit here at my desk typing this article and I am thankful that I live in a country where I have such a right but I also wonder what I had to sacrifice to have this freedom. Our country is downtrodden with heavy burdens and no solution is in sight. Prices of everyday goods are skyrocketing and more Americans are forced to choose between medicine, health, food or shelter.
I hear the candidates talk a good talk but talk is cheap and actions are louder than words. What is the state of the homeless population in our great nation? Nobody can really tell you the exact numbers. The federal, state and city governments want to sweep the homeless epidemic under the proverbial rug.
In my city aloneI can't tell you the number but I know it is on the rise. Where-ever you go you see homeless men, women and children because they just can't afford to live and do you know why these people won't go to shelters? Many are afraid that their belonging will be stolen which it does happen or they will lose their lives they have no means to earn an honest dollar because the job market is at a low.
I see veterans(men who defended our freedom) sleeping under bridges in my city. It is a tragedy that we have gotten to the point that we as American's can't help one another.
When will it end? When will the government stop pretending that this major problem does not exist? When will my leaders and your leaders stop spending trillions of dollars on wasted efforts?
I want answers from my leader,I want the truth. I am getting tired of congress spending my tax dollars on things that do not concern me. I am getting tired of my city leaders telling me that what they are doing with my money is for the good of all.
I want to see the homeless of this great nation no longer put on the back burner or forgotten.
We as Americans should be thankful to the many homeless vets who gave their all so we could enjoy our lives.
When you are celebrating on the 4th remember that you could become homeless and this mockery of a government could sweep you under the rug.
The opinion expressed in this article is solely the opinion of myself.
