My Two Cents Worth 9-24-2005

You know the Lord has been blessing me so the last two or three days and my heart cries out to the Lord in praise.

My Two Cents worth
(By Myrtle Poor ((c)

Greetings from the Sooner State. Well fall is here again. The weather is beautiful here in my area of Eastern Oklahoma. In a couple of weeks the fall colors will start. As I sit here, the thought came to me just now that no matter how messed up things in the world are around us, the Lord never fails to show beauty in it. In a few weeks the beautiful red, orange, yellow and gold will be blazing in their full glory. It will shine forth like a beautiful rainbow after a spring rain and all the ugliness of recession and voting will fade in the shadows for just a fleeting moment in time. If we can stop our fast pace and take it in for just a little while.

You know the Lord has been blessing me so the last two or three days and my heart cries out to the Lord. Even though there is heart ache and disaster on every hand I still feel the anointing of God. Oh so very much. In Psalms 33:21 it says, Our heart shall rejoice in Him."

Blessed is the fact that Christians can rejoice even in the deepest distress; although trouble may surround them, they still sing; and, like many birds, they sing best in their cages. The waves may roll over them, but their souls soon rise to the surface and see the light of God's countenance; they have a buoyancy about them which keeps their head always above the water, and helps them to sing amid the tempest, "God is with me still." To whom shall the glory be given? Oh! to Jesus-it is all by Jesus.

Trouble does not necessarily bring consolation with it to the believer, but the presence of the Son of God in the fiery furnace with him fills his heart with joy. Picture it. Picture the Three Hebrew Children standing in the fire. Then think about that fourth man being there with them. Do you recognize him? Have you recognized him in your furnace when the troubles of life have turned up the heat on you?

The believer is sick and suffering, but Jesus is always there with him as the fourth man in the furnace. Even though the troubles and strifes of this life are raging so hot and high over him,  Jesus puts His arms around him, and cries, "Fear not, beloved; for I the Lord thy God am here right beside you." In the same gentle, soft voice Jesus says, "Fear not, it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom."

Isaiah 43:2  says: When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

Oh glory to the precious Lord, the verse should be one of our favorite verses. I have turned to it so many times when I've been in a valley, but still I praise God for every valley I walk through. For it is in the valley of the furnace that we grow the most spiritually.

In 1 Corinthians 15:55 says "O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?" Truly, the presence of Jesus is all the heaven we desire. He is at once "The glory of our brightest days; The comfort of our nights."

I SAW GOD EVERYWHERE
By Myrtle Poor (c)

As I stood gazing up into the trees
I saw the red, green and yellow of the bright autumn leaves.
It reminded me of God's rainbow so fair,
I looked and I saw God everywhere.

As I saw the little wild flowers so perky and gay.
I thought to myself "What a beautiful day."
I looked at the clouds so puffy and fair:
I looked and I saw God everywhere.

As I walked down the path I heard a mocking bird sing.
On a far distant shore I heard a church bell ring.
The peace and tranquility were wonderful there:
I listened and I heard God everywhere.

I heard a little brook bubbling over the rocks;
I saw a swaying little boat tied up in its dock.
Trees were all singing as the breeze ruffled their hair,
I saw and heard God everywhere.

I felt God's spirit there that day.
Among the trees, the birds and the flowers so gay.
I cried, "Thank God," as His spirit descended on me there.
My God and His love were everywhere

THE FIERY FURNACE
By Myrtle Poor (c)

Sometimes we wonder,
But do not understand
Why troubles and strifes
Beset all righteous men.

There is a purpose
In the things that come about
If we would but seek it
We could face it without doubt.

We may not see the purpose,
But we know its God's big plan.
When the storms are the roughest
We can hold onto his hand.

We walk through the fiery furnace
And be tempered by the fire.
God does not want a Christian
That is wading in the mire.
