SO NOW I AM A TERRORIST?
I served honorably for twenty two years on active duty in the United States Navy from November 1957 to June 1979. I never went to Captain's Mast and was never disciplined for any infraction of the rules during my tenure. I served on four different aircraft carriers and was fortunate enough to be part of the crew that commissioned the U.S.S.John F. Kennedy CVA 67.
As a reward for service to my country and the sacrifice I made being away from my family, accepting long and dangerous work hours for a small amount of pay and benefits, the Secretary of Homeland Security has recently referred to me as a right wing extremist and possible terrorist.
Madam Secretary seems to forget that every veteran has stepped up and signed a blank check made payable to the United States of America up to and including his/her life if required. And the country has cashed that check many times in the name of freedom and the retention of rights for the rest of the people comprising the country. Every military member understands what he/she is signing when he/she puts their name on the dotted line. All sign for love of country.
For a person to make a statement or condone a statement like that shows their lack of knowledge of just what a true veteran really is. Without that knowledge, in my opinion, she is not competent to do her job. Sure, she has apologized but this is after she approved the memo and went on FOX news and defended it. It was only after the pressure built up from across the nation she apologized. Too little, too late! Madam Secretary, you are incompetent for the job of Department of Homeland Security. Step aside and allow someone else to assume the helm.
This veteran is not, never has been and never will be a right wing extremist and certainly not a terrorist. I love this country and I get upset when someone accuses or abuses my country and what it stands for. And you Madam Secretary have done just that!
