My precious son and the tenants in his apartment complex had an extended Labor Day vacation.
On September 3, in predawn hours after Labor Day, my son that lives in Memphis, Tennessee, called home. The phone rang with a vengence that I knew something was wrong as soon as it echoed out into the darkness of our bedroom.
The apartment complex that he lives in was on fire, and as we talked, his balcony collasped. He was in shock. I didn't realize that at the time, but he was. Everyone in the complex lost their home and all their possessions. Some have relatives far away and are now alone. My son's work place has rallied around him, and he is going to be OK; but with the celebration of 9-11, I am more convinced that ever, that lives that were spared are more important than anything else, but I pray these people have the same outpouring of love that has been bestowed upon my son. He has a new apartment now, just as nice as his old one, furniture donated by co-workers and friends, and a new wardrobe. God does provide for those who love him.
I will only do business now with FedX, as his boss has gone beyond the call of duty for my son and his needs.
God placed my son in a work place that has Christians and compassion for their fellow man. I am so grateful all lives were spared. And He never puts on us more than we can bare.
