Learning the distinction between our pursuits of the prosperity that is promised us and pursuing the opportunity to serve Him. The ninth song of ascent, a poem that describes the happiness of those who trust in the Lord and do His will:
“Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in his ways. You will eat the fruit of your labor, blessings and prosperity will be yours.” (Psalm 128:1-2)
We unknowingly violate God’s principle of prosperity when we place the promise before the service. Paul entreats believers to use their abilities to serve God, (Romans 12:1). Matthew lets us know that when we place our desires to serve God first, all of the promises that we pursue will be added to us, (Matthew 6:33)
