An article by Sha'Tara...

Energy Transfer - Bringing it all Together

[Voice from the Other Side - Sha'Tara]

Energy is commonly referred to as "work."  When work is done, energy is transferred from one form into another.  In a closed system, no energy can be either created or destroyed.  However in any energy transfer, the useful (actual) output energy is always less than total input (potential).  The "law of constant energy" still holds however.  The lost or waste energy appears in a less useful form.

Another way of looking at this is from the term "Efficiency" which is the ratio (percentage) of useful energy output to total energy input in any energy transfer.  Again, no input energy is destroyed but not all appears in the desired form.  Example, only about 2% of electrical energy used by a lamp transfers as light.  A car engine transfers chemical energy to mechanical energy with about a 25% efficiency.  Heat is the most common form of waste energy.  (Any wonder we are experiencing a "green-house" effect on this world?)

This little explanation leads us to entropy: the death of a system when there is no more "useful" energy available; when no energy transfer remains possible.

I'm not big on bandying "laws"about.   Still, whether a law or not, waste energy or entropy is a very real and serious event.  It affects every system, since all must transfer energy to survive.

Is the universe a closed system?  Most believe it is.  If that is the case then it is finite - mortal - and will die.  That fact may not move us much - it's a big place, and we measure its life span in billions of years, whereas our own puny lives we measure in decades.

That's not what fascinates me.  What I find amazing is the concept of entropy tied to creation.  Think of creation as a system made up of sub-systems, from the macro to the micro.  Think of entropy as a fail-safe mechanism within every system to prevent any of them from running amok.  Entropy is the "death hormone" that guarantees no system will break out of control; no system will change itself through manipulation of energy transfers and supplant that which created it.

What, then, could conceivably break free of source and become absolutely independent of everything and anything else beyond itself?  Absolutely self-empowered?

Something that exists without the need of energy transfer.

I already know that only an individual can become self-empowered.  To become an individual -- and no one is either created as such, or born as such - all are dependent and inter-dependent beings; all are symbiotic systems -- one must work with the concept of detachment.  Detachment is achieved (from my experience) through compassion.  Compassion develops the empathic personality.  A truly empathic being is utterly detached.  Theoretically, detachment means no energy transfer.

"When none of it matters, it will all be yours." [YLea of the WindWalkers]

I am still working that one out.  There's an apparent joke in this, because when none of it matters, I won't need any of it, much less want any of it.

But that's not it, is it?  Through empathy, I will be a living part of it all, and fully aware - without having to try, hence no energy transfer.

As the mind of Christ - true Spirit - touching all, needing none, wanting none, wasting none.

Last week my teachers asked me, "If you were given one wish, what would you desire above all else?"  And my instant reply was, "I would wish to encounter beauty as in its pristine form - never marred, never tarnished, never sullied, never having suffered loss of any kind."

To which they replied with a reverent silence.

Good Golly, Reg! 'Tho very interesting and thought provoking, this is mostly above my head. :o)
Is "entrophy" closely related to "atrophy"? The latter, I'm aware of, and know how to releive or prevent...via careful and continued use of a particular muscle or organ. I know, too, that thru Tai Chi, I can experience and feel energy around my body. I'd best leave the study of this topic to you, but keep reading what I can learn from your articles :o)

Great write. About their silence. Maybe it was louder than words. God imparted energy but God is energy. does this take anything away from him? Just a thought!

Try as we might , I believe the only system for positive change in the world always begins with our own consciousness which in turn compassionately shows itself to the world through our works and art.
Your words are part of this universal growth of consciousness.
Cool essay...

Regis,
This is a subject that I continually ponder, and I find it refreshing to read this, unexpectedly, at AD. From my human point of view, and conditioning, I also tend to judge perfection by ideas and perceptions I grew up with. Quite often, I'll write about the "perfect" day, an incredibly beautiful moment. BUT, isn't it also possible that the universe or Source/G_d energy, includes all that we consider ugly, horrific as part of perfection? Afterall, our concept of perfection is our own made up, human point of view. I do know that we are energy in body suits. That everything is energy. But as far as perfection goes??? Maybe it will always remain subjective. What I DO know is that when I meditate -- go into silence -- and remain there long enough to get past the inner monkey chatter -- that is where I experience, what feels to me to be, the purest and loveliest energy.
You've brought up such wonderful ideas to consider and expressed them so well. Thanks, Regis, for writing about it and sharing it with all of us. Jerelyn
