"Life is eternal, and love is immortal,
and death is only a horizon;
and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight."

Ebony’s Grave

Reminiscent diaries constantly reliving
Washed by hidden floods tide in earth
From mortuary’s graver carving sorrows
Chiseled under entombment’s moons

Chairs folded in contending concessions
Trumpets muse cannot be heard by all
Where sinners birth of yestermorn grievers
The destruction of lessons are hardly learned

Whence innocent eyes of mortal living close
Their stones standing alone in sodden trees
Come forth the cut rose blossoms for caskets
Where alters harvest belief within ashes to dust

And the wind sings upon sonatas barren season
The heart’s desolate future from lost loves sight
Placed inside coffin’s wood baring promises love
the heart of a child now fades into ebony’s grave

Dearest Victoria,
You are truly gifted! I am so very impressed with your ability to work with words. You create such precise imagery with your description. Well penned.

This one hits home Vick as I prepared to go to my Aunts funeral on Sat and have just heard my step-brother will not be long on this earth either...but as the poem and the good Mr. Campbell suggests they will live on in the hearts of many who loved them.

Twinship to my Arboroglyph http://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewpoetry.asp?id=270042

Eulogizing something lost in poetry is self-healing, death of our loved ones, family and broken relationships cast to exile and pine boxes are carthartic as well as granite and marble headstones marking a life which once walked upon this plane of life...pallbearers witness to the weight in their hands, pagans with the feel of rebirth in our hands...soul lives on as we bury with either bodies or other "dead things", items of reincarnation of the afterlife...trumpets or elk bugles, a send-off of Ebony's Grave...

Love & Immortality,
Sage
