The Black Dog Ranch Dogs: Teddie, Willa, Betty, Mickey, Molly, Maggie, Charlie & Mia
I have come to accept that living on a farm with dogs and horses there never seems to be a dull moment. I am grateful for that most of the time, but there are those times when I find it a little challenging to say the least.
Since the weather has been pretty hot during the day the dogs have all decided that laying in my flower beds are the coolest places to sleep on the farm. I wouldn't have a big problem with this except they insist on digging out all of my mulch before they find that perfect spot. (the dirt is cooler???). So for the last week I have been playing detective trying to figure out which one is doing it. When I "sneak" outside they are all laying in the shade of the front porch, but the mulch is scattered all over the yard. I can never catch anyone in the act. They all look so innocent while they watch me rake the mulch back into the flower beds. I have even had all of them come over and stand around while I point to the mulch and tell them bad dogs, but they just look at me like I'm crazy and stroll back to the porch to continue their naps.
I guess it is likely that I may never find out which one is guilty, but I guess if given a choice I will keep the dogs and have mulchless flower beds. I can't imagine my life without dogs!
