Consumer Complaints and When to File Them
1/16/2012 12:27:34 PM
This is a very brief expose' which addresses the issue of registering consumer complaints with regard to residential contractor fraud.

Apparently, we may now know as much as we like about Gaga, Beiber, and Jobs, but still we hardly know anything about registering our complaints. This is about doing just that.

Some time ago, I read an article in the D.I,Y. Chatroom.com. Really, it entailed a series of mini-articles from a disgruntled homeowner about being flim-flammed by a residential contractor.

The account this guy gave was so intriguing that I created an audio "short" (about 12-12 min)"Homeowners/Homerenters" [one of the few titles it surfaced with. Now out of circulation].

Nevertheless, the homeowner complained to the cyber audience about how much of a louse that contractor was.

So as not to go into detail, what occurred is that the "louse" promised to do a few home projects which he either didn't do correctly or didn't do, period.

Then he whimpishly asked, anyone within "reading shot," if he should take it to court (???). Not one word did he say about filing an official complaint. Apparently, that snobbish contractor was home free with the $3,000.00 this homeowner gave as down payment of a $4,200.00 contract.

The contractor refused to complete the work properly unless the homeowner paid the additional $1,200.00...and, then some. The poor guy refused. The contractor accused him of having "an attitude," ceremoniously slamming the phone down, abandoning the project......

To be continued..............
