Titanic stupidity
4/21/2012 7:28:27 AM
I'm sorry but I was watching the special on the History Channel about the 100th anniversary of the Titanic sinking.
They said there have been 22 expeditions to the site of the sinking. Those research ships aren't cheap, the state of the art equipment they use isn't cheap.
It struck me as a useless waste of money to be exploring something that is on the sea floor and of no importance to anyone except the shameless people who get grants to do these explorations.
I'm sorry, but I just had to vent. Isn't there more immediate needs for that money? What if the millions of dollars spent for equipment and researcher's time (most are PhD's)was spent on finding a cure for cancer or some other endeavor that would actually benefit humanity? The average person struggling to make ends meet could care less about some ship that sunk a hundred years ago, and neither could I.
Just seems to me like a Titanic waste.
