Praying Beyond Personal Comfort
12/12/2011 7:46:50 AM
A call to specific and strategic prayer
Prayer so often is meant to bring about our desired results and to give comfort and strength. We know that "prayer changes things". Yet, prayer is more than polite and routine conversation with God. It is more than a please and thank you opportnity; prayer is revolutionary and empowering. Prayer is the link to God's chat room where fellowship takes place, provision is released, strength is acquired and restored and instruction is gained.Prayer is both talking to AND hearing from The Creator of all things. If we take the time to listen, He has something to say.
Praying beyond one's personal comfort will entail overcoming some things in our lives. Overcoming such things as a false sense of pride in the traditions of men, unholiness, not worshipping God in spirit and in truth...
James 5:16 tell us: Confess your faults one to another that you may be healed. The effectual, fervent prayer of the righteios avails much. This is radical praying, not just routine or duty.
To pray beyond the boundaries of personal comfort will begin with honesty. The effective and fervent prayer of the righteous will develop a passion for lost and hurting people. It will be specific and strategic, will know the importance of corporate prayer, will get to know and become more intimate with God, will confront and tear down strongholds, will go beyond personal needs, will confront personal weakness and will learn what is on God's heart instead of always saying:"Well God knows my heart."
Praying beyond personal comfort is an honest prayer that truly believes that with God all things are possible and is voiced as though life depended onit because it does. This prayer gets results. Proverbs 18:21a records: " Death and life are in the power of the tongue." How are you yielding that power?
We must position ourselves as the eagle who always soars above the storm and abides in the high places of the mountain. Praise will take us there.
O, let the nation be glad and sing for joy: for thou shall judge the people righteously and govern the nations upon the earth. Selah. Let the people praise thee O God, let all the people praise thee. The shall the earth yield the increase and God even our own God shall bless us (Psalm 67)
Where do we begin? "If My people which are called by My name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their land." (II Chronicles 7:14

In His great love,

Minister Judy Mays
