Only A Little Pregnant 5/15/2009 7:22:21 AM
I’ve become a bit of a news junky lately as I seek to get my mind around all that is happening in our world. One particular statement caught my ear the other day that amazing fell under the radar of even the savviest of conservative commentators and journalists. It was part of a statement made about the soon to retire Supreme Court Justice in reference to his past performance on the job. Of him it was said that he, “consistently defied labels and rejected absolutes, focusing instead on just one task: reaching a just result in the case that was before him."
So…..If I stood before this same Supreme Court Justice claiming that I was only a little pregnant, how would he be able to reach a just result if he defied labels and rejected absolutes? Wouldn’t the position of the court have to be that I either was or was not pregnant? How frightening to think that this Supreme Court Justice rejected absolutes in judging cases.
Can you imagine if the Lord Jesus Christ judged by "consistently defying labels and rejecting absolutes." Now that would be frightening. Thankfully, God operates on absolutes. In fact, my daily existence and future destination depend on it. Because of this I can rest in his absolutes, for not only is his Word true, but his love is real and his Son is worthy.
Revelation 5:11-13
Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice they sang:
"Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!"
Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing:
"To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!"
