My heart is in Haiti
1/15/2010 10:32:53 AM
Many people have asked for an update on my friends in Haiti.

We received word yesterday that Guesno Mardy, the orphanage director, and his wife, Majorie, are both fine. Majorie has a broken leg, however. All 225 children in their care are miraculously safe, despite the main orphanage being just a few km from the epicenter of the quake & the orphanage in Petionville collapsing. I have tears of joy for this miracle, but also tears of grief for the Mardy family. Guesno's mother and sister were killed in the quake and Majorie's brother is missing and presumed dead. They were all friends of ours and helped with the adoptions.

Our hearts are also heavy as the Mardy's struggle with the continued grief of missing their almost three year old son who was kidnapped the first Sunday in December. The chances of his safe return at this point are very slim. We continue to pray for miracles though.

Again, thank you for your concern and support.

With love,
Cryssa
