Now here's a situation for you!

There is actually no category for this blog entry!
My employer, who shall rather obviously remain nameless, was a recent purchaser of our existing company. It seems that their control of their employees' lives is even more controlling than we were used to under the old regime. And that's saying a mouthful, to be trite about it. In fact, I'll probably use a whole lot of banal expressions in this short diatribe.

After all, working for the competition is verboten in any industry. No problem with that! But when it comes to controlling media contacts, including blogs and websites, all my hackles rise like a peacock's tail. And no Simba has a ruff to compare with mine when annoyed. I know any independent-minded, creative person feels the same way.

No one in their right mind would discuss their employment abuses or their employer's financial prospects with a media representative, not even in good times, and certainly not if they planned on keeping their job in today's shattered economy. So, whence the paranoia? Has every corporation turned into a control freaks' paradise? I certainly hope not.

I will not oblige by seeking prior approval of anything I write on my own time, using my own facilities and equipment. Thank you very much, but I will use my own judgement as to when and how I will and will not comment on the condition of the world in general.

I am normally a sunny person, but right now, I must agree with Scrooge: Bah, humbug!
