"Seize the Day" (Carpe Diem)

The length of our days on this earth is uncertain. That is why we must do what we can while we can.
"Carpe Diem"is a phrase with which most,if not all, of us are familiar.
In Latin it literally means seize the day,the moment,or the opportunity.
This admonition was made quite clear last week when several celebrities died around the same time;I believe a couple of them died on the same day,one in the morning(Farah Fawcett) and the other in the afternoon (Michael Jackson).
Although all deaths bring loss and sadness(a childhood friend of mine also died during this time)these deaths and the others sent shock waves throughout the country and the world.
The message these deaths has for us is very clear:Even if we are not in the public's eye as celebrities are,we too must take advantage of the time we have and use it to live passionate lives in service to others.
We do not know how much time we have been given,and if we are to live our lives to their fullest capacity,we must start now,and live this day and all subsequent days as if they were our last,because they just might be our last days.
Procrastinating should then become a thing of the past;we should energetically approach each task with the intention of completing it in a manner and time that glorifies our Maker and serves others in some way.
For those of us who are interested in personal development and self help,we know how detrimental procrastination is,and we have made wise decisions to "seize the moment,"and what opportunities that present themselves to us.
Life is uncertain;none of us knows when our time is up;but we can live life to the full while we can by taking advantage of the many opportunities that come our way each day.
