Visit with the Wolves

Last Thursday I visited the Wolf Centre at the Haliburton Forest in Ontario, Canada. I went with my sister and we had a most enjoyable time.
First of all it was a spectacular day weather-wise--clear blue skies and warm sunshine. The trip was about an hour's ride from our home with beautiful scenery all around us. Lots of lakes, trees, and rocks.
The Visitor's Centre opened at 10 a.m. and we arrived about fifteen minutes after that. We paid our $10.00 each and went to the observation room where one way glass looked out onto a natural area of vegetation and trees. It is in no way a zoo. The wolves have acres of natural old growth forest in which to roam.
We were extremely lucky in that the wolf pack were resting in the sun and shade where we could see them easily. The pack consisted of an Alpha male and Alpha female with their two 14 week old pups. What a joy it was to see this family together.
We took lots of photographs and videos of these amazing animals.
There were also two rooms of exhibits and displays of the history and reintroduction of the wolves to their rightful home. One exhibit had hands on materials and demonstrations.
Of course, there was also a gift shop.
Following our very interesting visit we proceeded to an outdoor picnic area where we ate the lunch that we had brought with us. There was a restaurant on the Wild Life Reserve where one could buy lunch if one wished to do so.
If ever you are in this part of Ontario Canada, it is an area well worth a visit.
