Contentious Jerusalem 3/23/2010 12:32:51 PM Jerusalem, that most mysterious city has once again managed to capture the headlines of every major news outlet in the world. This news however, is certainly not new; it’s the same problem that has plagued the Middle East since Israel won independence in 1948. More specifically in 1967 when it routed the combined Arab military in six days to reclaimed Jerusalem once again for itself. What is it about Jerusalem, a city of 750,000 that has caused the entire world to sleep with one eye opened? There is a simple answer to this elusive question, unfortunately, most of the world refuses to accept, but is historically irrefutable.
Jerusalem is mentioned 632 times in the Judo Christian bible, what is more remarkable is that much of what is recorded has been validated through indisputable archaeological finds. Because of the secular nature of today’s culture, intellectual reason refuses to accept anything that has to do with God. That is regrettable because the world is about to learn the truth the hard way. Jerusalem is first mentioned in the bible around the year 1883 BC (Salem) approximately four thousand years ago. It is the most contentious city in history, and the Jews have no intention of turning loose anytime soon. It has been attacked, captured and recaptured time and time again, being destroyed twice in the process. The biblical claim that Jerusalem will finally become a cup of trembling and a burdensome stone to all those people round about; seems to have come to pass.
This should be no puzzle to those who have followed her with a historical curiosity.
The Palestinian claim that Jerusalem must be the capital of their new state is more too antagonize the peace process than to find a real avenue for peace. It is to the advantage of radical Islam to keep the conflict alive until all world governments stand against Israel. The Israeli Prime Minister has been called to Washington to explain his nations obstinate stance. If the Jews bend it is because they are forced too by their US financial supporter. It doesn’t matter, the same bible that has been right all along states that Jerusalem will be the future capital of the entire world.
