Why Do People Hurt? Day 1 of 3 -Shortfalls and Blame 10/10/2007 5:50:15 AM Dealing with 3 points in 3 days. Welcome to Day 1: Insignificance. (Part of the lecture collection, "Cynth'ya Speaks: It's YOUR New Day!) If you tried to decipher by assuming this is about others....you're absolutely wrong. It's about ALL of us. Sometimes this sassy midlife lady of spoken word just marvels as to how 95 percent of people in our present world tend to think. The reason it's not 100 percent is because there is a remant of us who were mentored by someone who learned how to remove themselves, by listening and learning, from the majority of people looking for someone else to blame for their shortfalls.
So for the next 3 days (this day being the first), let us together ponder 3 lies, 3 fallacies, 3 errors... embraced by 95 percent of people who feel as if life is passing them by... as to why some people feel so worthless as to do horrible things to themselves as well as others around them, whether they know them our not, in our everyday existence.
DAY 1 POINT 1: THE LIE OF INSIGNIFICANCE.
Humans who feel they have nothing to offer often fall prey to the habit of trying to bury a hatchet of blame into other peoples' backs for things that should have been forgiven a LO-O-O-O-O-G time ago. But let's break this down for a second:
Maybe the "blame issue" wasn't the blamee's fault at all. They might have just been in the wrong place at the wrong time, and were too meek and insecure to stand up for themselves in deciphering the facts of the matter that would have cleared up the blamer's miscombobulation of facts in the first place. That happens in the WORKPLACE, in the HOME, in PLACES OF WORSHIP, in educational halls of assumption (because people are too afraid to question their professors and teachers and principals).
God the ONE AND ONLY (not the United Nations) gave us all two ears (and the miracle of hearing aids) on both sides of our head that represent both sides of an issue. Almighty Father (not the Pope) gave us a brain in the middle to figure things ON OUR OWN all based on the evidence and facts, not our feelings and opinions. The Master and Commander of the Universe (not George Bush) gave us open and two lips that can shut tighter than superglue on press on nails for a reason.
So next time someone brushes your bristles the wrong way, stop shutting up. Instead of cussin' 'em out or using sign language where your second finger represents an act that has nothing to do with birdwatching, try this instead:
Think with the brain between your ears. Listen with the ears on the outside of your brain. Then and only then, open up your orifice full of ivory whites and say something so profound that even the most crabby person you know stop and think, "Hmmm, maybe I missed something."
Here's my theory of what might happen in the aftermath:
If the person with certain edgy personality quirks doesn't self-combust and leave a pile of ash on the floor where they used to be standing, as the bible says, shake the dust from your feet, and move on. Either peole accept what you have to say, or they reject it. And their decision is NOT your problem.
Now move on. Ask God's forgiveness if you slip and fall into human error. Then more imporantaly, forgive yourself. Every day is a new chapter in your life.
"Next!"
See you God willing tomorrow...
blessin's
