Comments: I wish that I were white 12/1/2007 1:55:54 AM See the poem "white dreamz" posted Dec. 1, 2007 under the obviously titled section of my page called "poetry" (smile) Happy Holidays...let's make 2008 a better day...and MEAN it this time!
The following note--after my own to you--was sent by one of my sistah-members of Women Entrepreneurs of America Inc. Int'l
[Listen To 1st Song] http://www.allenwatty.com/
My first thought on a song that is only controversial because of what it brings up in the minds of so many of us who have experienced or seen the effects of racism firsthand not just in this nation, but around the world was simply:
"IT'S ABOUT TIME!"
Those who may feel uncomfortable...that's a healthy sign. The ones who feel nothing when hearing this are the most dangerous. But I doubt anyone I'd know would be in that category...then again...(smile)
This musical freedom soldier Allen Watty is brilliant putting into a song things that our children and even grandchildren sometimes forget as far as the history of this country called America (which sometimes feels emotionally like "Antarctica". Family..not much changed. But should thank God that when we ALL pull together in Jesus' name, it's God who will make the final call. Just keep doing what we know is right, because God knows sin is neither black or white. We gotta move on and keep lifting each other up!
The worst offenders in my personal opinion are the religious white populations who separate themselves to this day when Jesus came to break those barriers...but they still perpetrate "tradition." Look, smile, act polite, but don't get "too" close.
That is where we find the most powerful weapon of strength against the spiritual enemy. 2008 is going to be a MOST interesting year. Are we up to the task of making things happen in history that God will reveal thru those who call themselves "HIS"?
Maybe you'll agree, and maybe you'll disagree with the context of this socially riveting music collection Thank God for Bro Watty...I'm so sick of the singers who misuse their talent busy pimpin' Magic City Rap cowards for Viacom. The song "Run Joe Run" is too tough to stomach for a lot of folks who profile people.
Y'all know somethin'...what true business owners to fix this mess in our own country, people with money, who have GOOD hearts, not giving people charity and leaving it at that, but taking abandon buildings and turning them into entrepreneurial and leadership centers. What good are millions in any business if it's not there for the purpose of providing not just for your own family, but for your entire community? That's what I so love about the business owners we know, and the business we are part of is one of the few in this world truly making a difference in the generations to come--ot just in the here and now.
And we truly are making a difference....the best is yet to come...but not without a fight for what's rightfully ours as citizens of what should continue to be the greatest country in the world.
blessin's,

Make sure you listen to the whole song to understand the purpose of the song. It will enlighten, inspire and ignite you all at the same time. Because let’s face it this song says everything that we wish would be said but isn’t for whatever reason. Open yourself up to the possibility that this can be a declaration of the inequality of the justice system and the old boy network that is still alive and well. I commend this brother for taking the chance to make a difference and to allow his greatness to show through because if I confront the issue and them then I empower myself to rise above my situation and make life better for those that come up after us. Sometime when we do nothing we sacrifice more than we ever thought of, like for instance a whole generation of human beings who have no conscience or regret but are all out for their own and looking out for number one.
Open yourself up for the best that God can bring up in you and take a chance to make a difference just by educating yourself and those around you. Empower yourself by first allowing change to begin with you as you begin to affect change within your own family, community, church and world. Today is the first day of change in our lives, the question is “are you up for the challenge?”
Your Sista in the Spirit and Life,
Michelle

*New Controversial Song "Sometimes I Wish I Was White" Stimulates Discussion About Blacks Frustrated With Injustice*
Lyrics: "Sometimes I feel, I wish I was white, so I could feel, /just how it feels to be treated right. / I'm not ashamed of me. Just one time, I want to see, how it feels to be treated equally."/
