Explaining the Poem

Authors Den member Jerry Bolton has a heart of gold, and thought I was "upset" by his reply to this poem. So I explain below my muse for the masses.
We as writers have interesting experiences. None of us have time to tell them all. However because of one dear writer friend of mine, Jerry Bolton, I feel that I need to share this with others as well, as to what is symbolized in the text as well as the visual art.
The cats, all black, represent the soul. Without Christ, we have no light. The bow ties around the cats necks are what we own as our experiences, our little "burdens" if you will. Christ is the one who frees us from all burdens, if we allow him to do so.
The multicolor tie around "cat #3's" neck symbolizes diversity, cultural existence, as opposed to colorless ideas that are passed down without questioning. (The cats # 1,2, and 4 have no color in their ties).
The soul exists and is made up from the thoughts of our minds. Sometimes those thoughts are not based upon truth. As Marianne Williamson says, (paraphrased) there is no such thing as judging and growing in the light. When we judge, we put shackles on our own growth experience. There are some things that are definitely against the will of God, but mankind has no right to place his own opinion upon something that God has ordained as rightness. In this case, love is right, and there is a right way to love. Unconditionally.
When people allow other people's differences to block their ability to love, the soul remains forever darkened.
There you have it. And Jerry, this one's in honor of you.
