In Transition? (Try another one) 1/15/2010 11:02:39 PM Everyone who was "in transition" (translated as "I'm broke and I don't know how to fix it") seem as if it were a title bestowed upon them by the Queen of the Unemployment Kingdom! This past Wednesday (Jan 13) we were invited to showcase our business at an anniversary celebration for a Christian-based networking group in Indianapolis. It was amazing to see all the different businesses that people chose to do.
What was equally amazing is some of the folks --- God bless them...(let's call them plan "B"seekers) -- were just meandering from table to table making polite garden party conversation, hoping no one would dare ask where they worked or what they did.
But here's the weird thing... Everyone who was "in transition" (translated as "I'm broke and I don't know how to fix it") seem as if it were a title bestowed upon them by the Queen of the Unemployment Kingdom!
"What do you do?'
"Oh, I'm an (ex-this or ex-that) in transition!"
Then came the roles that their former bosses mandated that they do in exchange for a taxed-out-pray-there's-enough-left-over-for-gas-and-cat food- paycheck.
"I can do THISSSSS and I can do THAAATT"....."I'm looking for what I studied to do in college...."
(What? Open a text book and take a test? Who the heck gets paid to do that?)
But alas many of us, this poster included, once believed in the dream of a splendid educational institution giving a splendid education....
Only one thing though....there was no money back guaranteed on the hundreds of thousands of high-interest loan dollars for us to become noble workers in the field if the field thought we were "overqualifed" to file papers....alas, THE ENTRY LEVEL POSITION!
Family, listen and listen well, please: There is nothing at all wrong with a college education...I'm not knocking that. But how many PhD's does one McDonald's need for goodness sake!?! What gets any economy moving is people using their talent (not always college-driven, more often God-given) in a way that people can be blessed by what they know, and what they do, and not because of who they know and who did whom.
Ecommerce is a way in social marketing to educate people about things that could, and often do, make lives better. Not everyone desires to become a billionaire, a millionaire, even a thousand-aire.
Some people just want a roof over their heads, enough food in the fridge, money in the bank to take care of the bills, and a nice vacation every now and again to keep from losing their mind on the job.
They want good health care, to be able to send money to countries like Haiti, to be able to give their time doing what they love instead of giving their time hating what they have to do to make money to barely make ends meet.
Then some of us want to make so much we won't be able to count it. (That's my club!) Anyway, who said ALSO (and this just irks the daylights out of me) that if a God fearing person wants to have a lot of money then they are "less than Christian." Listen y'all....Jesus came to this planet (if you believe in the Bible)...flat out broke, busted and born around animal manure. Joseph and Mary would have been cited for child neglect by social services. And since Joseph was a grown man, and Mary barely a teenager...he would have been tried for statutory rape too!
(Sat on a stinky mule TOO? Goodness, he'd have been all over America's Most Wanted!)
But sometimes beautiful blessings, like the birth of Christ, come in strange unexplained packages....
So with that, it's time to sign off, get to bed for once before 2 a.m. in the morning...bid all Team Spectrum Facebook Fans adieu...and a very very merry
ZAMZUU.com to you...
blessin's
