The great teleprompter debate

As if there aren’t more important issues facing our country, there are those who continue to dog President Obama because he chooses to use a teleprompter when he makes a speech. Obama’s critics have resorted to attacking him for the smallest of things, trying to make him appear to be ignorant, which he is not. These are the same people who said that the president's Oval Office speech was too "professorial", even though it was written to be understood by anyone with a 9th grade level of education.
Let me enlighten you, folks. When someone, anyone, makes a speech, they rely on having the words of that speech in front of them, especially when they need to deliver an important message. I’ve never seen anyone make a decent speech without notes.
In the past, speakers placed their entire speech on the podium in front of them, turning the papers page by page as they spoke. This is the 21st Century! The fact that President Obama employs modern technology is an intelligent decision, in my humble opinion. I prefer to see a speaker face forward so I can see his/her eyes. I don’t want them constantly looking down at their notes and turning pages … I find that quite distracting, actually.
Do we put down people who use other modern technologies like cell phones or computers? Of course not … that would be absolutely absurd! So why do some people insist on bashing the president because he uses a teleprompter? By the way, he's not the first president to utilize this modern resource.
Perhaps the president’s critics believe it would be better if he wrote notes on his hand like sarah palin. Now that’s the kind of president we could all be proud of ... yeah, right!
