WHAT I'VE BEEN UP TO 7/12/2003 4:10:28 AM Nothing better than coming home to an acceptance. I love the internet because of this. I can check two or three times a day and never know what I'll find in my e-mail, where as with snailmail the mailman only came once a day and never on weekends. I guess I'm a kid, need that instant gratification.
Yesterday I recieved an acceptance for Cyber-Pulp's poetry anthology MIRRORS IN FLAME. They accepted my poem "The Memory Of Bone". I'm excited. I've been writing poetry for a long time and have had a lot of success with it, but mostly in the mainstream. This was my first honest-to-god horror poem, and it rocked. I've had a lot of success with my horror fiction, with over forty or so sales. This is a way to get my two muses horror and poetry in bed with each other. Every man's dream!
What else have I been up to? A story "The Glint Of Moonlight on Broken Glass" was accepted in Cyber-Pulp's e-anthology TRUTH, JUSTICE AND THE AMERICAN WAY. This is a horror/fantasy/sf anthology full of stories rooted in the superhero mythos. No Batman or Superman, homegrown superheroes that each writer gets to invent. Each story will be accompanied with a comic book page excerpted from the body of the story. In addition to the story I submitted a sample script for the artist, and he liked it enough to use it for the anthology. So a double acceptance in one. I'm really excited over "...Broken Glass". It's one of the best pieces of fiction I've come up with.
Also have stories in Cyber-Pulp's premier role playing game e-magazine ADVENTUROUS. Kind of nifty, considering how many years have passed since I've ever been involved in a role playing game. The premise of the mag is simple. Each issue features a small collection of various genred stories and the role-playing stats to game the stories out. So it appeals to readers and role players alike.
Stories in Cyber-Pulp's anthologies so far
"Do-overs and Detours - North of Bigfoot" - WICKED WHEELS
"All Wood Dreams Of The Sun" - FORBIDDEN TEXTS
"Geeking The Muse" - STRANGE NEWS
I'm banking a lot on Cyber-Pulp's continued success and putting a lot of eggs in one virtual basket, but I believe its worth the risk. Cyber-Pulp's very active and have offered me a lot of opportunities which in turn has generated a lot of good stories. So let's go for it, shall we?
I've also got a story out in the latest HORROR GARAGE, an actual magazine actually found in magazine shops. The story is called "Jumping Chollo Will Not Die" and I'm really pleased to be in it.
More later.
