ISLAM FOR OUR TIME: Inside the Traditional World of Islamic Spirituality
I am pleased to announce that I am publishing a new book on Islam that is intended to be an "introduction to Islamic history, culture and spirituality." The book opens with some reflections on the meaning of the term religion that finds its source in the Primordial Religion during the Golden Age of Adam who "walked and talked with God".
The main thrust of the book, as its title suggests, is that Islam is not an archaic religion that finds its roots 14 centuries ago in the heart of a backward and nomadic Arabia Felix, but a modern, dynamic and tolerant way of life that raises human consciousness concerning the true nature of Reality and provides a means and the spiritual disciplines of prayer, Quranic recitation and meditation to raise one's spiritual awareness and internalize its meaning in our behavior and actions.
