God or Universe, Which is it?

Depending on what part of the world you come from this is a big question and debated often. In the West you are asked to believe in a God that we cant see, know or hold an actual two way conversation with. This is simple, efficient, but is it a relationship or a blind believing of idea's that we accept as children with out question. Does it satisfy the heart to know this or merely appease the mind and its futile search for fulfillment?
Much of what is concocted in the west about God is imagination and conjecture. It has no basis in reality. What alive person has ever seen heaven, God or another dimension and can prove their existence to others? This is not to say that people don't have spiritual experiences, but they are so individual and personal you cant give them to others. So people afraid of self learning and discovery accept these stories and suffer because beliefs can't cure the separation between ideas and reality. Reality can be and must be encountered individually.
In the East, for the most part, there is no belief in God, but an awareness that something exists and connects us to each other and existence. It is not an idea, but a feeling and an awareness that unity or oneness is the nature of life. This did not come from idea's alone but experiences over centuries of people who did not belong to churches, follow societies or surrender to a master.
Meditation and enlightenment are paths or tools that are taught in eastern countries and meant to help the seeker to be in touch with their feelings and desires. The responsibility for a person's growth is on them and not based on ideas or a group or a master. I realize that in the east, much of what has been passed down through the ages has turned into beliefs that people follow, but if they are really listening and working inwardly, they realize that their enlightenment is a personal thing and not a commodity that can be sold by anyone.
In the final analysis, God is a word, the Universe is a physical phenomena and Awareness is the key that unlocks us and allows us to experience both as ONE thing. Definitions divide, Awareness awakens and unifies. It unifies the mind and heart and reveals a truth that can't be spoken easily.
