The Wall

MAGIC MAN'S MUSINGS
There is a wall between us, and between our making real communication. Every day we hide behind this wall of self and ego, and we seldom allow ourselves to venture into no man's land to allow ourselves to establish real communication or communion with one another. This wall protects us from vulnerability and keeps us from feeling the pain we all carry inside us. The disappointments and sorrows of our life are hidden behind it. We feel somewhat protected there, but alone and detached from others.
We yearn to love and be loved, but we fear rejection. We fear to face the mountain of emotion that has grown there and the humiliation of feeling human. We are a mess, because we carry our burden of life, one that is hard to bear, and we have few outlets to allow the pressure to release except in the tears we feel, when we're alone at night and in our own private moments of despair. It is this failure to share feelings that is the root cause of most of life's pain and anguish.
Alone, we gestate and torture ourselves in a cauldron of guilt and self judgment. We have been taught to distrust ourselves and to fear the scrutiny of others. We are trapped within ourselves and feel there's no way out. We seek freedom in a lifetime search through people and ideologies that promise salvation and often leave us even more bitter and letdown. We are not taught the real art of inner communication. We are not taught that feelings are the inner language of the soul and heart. We stop short of real communication because the language of the heart is not an alphabet, but a living, conscious awareness of deeper aspects of ourselves. This self is connected to something deeper, richer and more fulfilling than our minds. This self is total and not fragmented nor incomplete.
All of our walls crumble in the light of awareness. These walls are the construction of men, societies, religions, politics and laws and even from within our very families. Awareness is a fragrance of our deep self and anchored in the source within us. It is a clarity that penetrates lies, deceptions and falsehoods. It is the fruit of realizing what is deep inside us and what comes back to us is that we are to share our true nature with others. This wall is simply an illusion that says you are not OK or that you have to be someone other than who are you are or where you are to be complete. Do not seek to tear the wall down, but dare to peek from behind it or, better yet, dare to see what is hiding and allow your awareness to show you what it is hiding. The wall can trick you into thinking you are safe, but only awareness can show you that you are connected to a vast and conscious universe that is always supporting you and willing to nurture you when you allow it to.
To be aware is to be conscious of what and how you feel. This is the first step and the only step needed to dissolve the illusion of the wall. If you can stop your mind and feel, soon your awareness will begin to show you the true nature of your life and how that flowing with events is the only sane way to maintain a balance and retain our peace of mind. It is your choice, always, your choice to live with the Wall or to live in Awareness.
