MAGIC OF LOVE AND INTIMACY
Good Question! People want it, need it, fear it and for sure they can’t live a full life without it. But have you ever really asked yourself what love is or what it does for you? Some people say it makes you feel full or complete. You are able to feel life more deeply and passionately. You feel more connected to something beyond yourself. You are whole again. All of this is true, but these are feelings and they describe aspects of love’s effect on you. They do not reveal what love actually is.
To describe love is to miss the boat on knowing love. The description is not the experience itself. It is far deeper and more alive than mere words can express. Words in fact can and do get in the way of love and life as anyone knows. To ask someone why they love you and then to hear a long dialogue about it is very disappointing. Love can't be described. It can only be felt. It is a knowing that words cant fulfill all by themselves.
To love yourself in this world is very rare and it's difficult. Two reasons are that you are separated from the womb of existence at birth and there is an angst about it we all carry inside. Secondly, we have thousands of people, institutions and groups telling us we are not good enough unless we meet their standards. We feel inferior most of our lives, until we find love, or it finds us.
Words cannot describe love or permit the feeling of love to fill us. It is beyond words and definitions. It is an awareness that we are more than we think we are, a remembrance from the very universe that something is missing and yet we can find it. A whisper of the unknown saying, “you don't know it all.”
The best description I have of love is, an emptiness of yourself that is replaced by a fullness of yourself that words can’t express adequately. It is a realization that you are not alone or separate, but a part of and connected to all of life in some way. It is the ultimate of feeling, minus the mind’s need to describe, control, analyze or formulate.
