Work, work, work

Much to do, not enough coffee
Well, lots going on right now. I have my new laptop set up, Jutoh and Scrivener and OpenOffice installed, and most of my pre-existing projects moved over. This is a good start but it's not there yet!

I'm going to organize things better and set up an automatic nightly backup of my projects to a USB stick, this will save me in case of a hard drive crash. Eventually I should find a way to compress and password-protect my files and back them up once a week to my Google Drive, but that's not critical.

"Dead Ringer" is in dire need of revision but I'm going to put my head down and finish the first draft BEFORE I go back and enter "hack and slash" mode. I want to beef up the characters as I have sequels and prequels in mind for these folks, in the same world, and I need more depth and complexity in my players.

I'm trying to capture all my ideas for novels, novellas, and serials. I'm re-considering trying short stories "to start" as it's not really a part of my self-publishing/self-sustaining GOAL and so I shouldn't be throwing time at it. While it's kind of fun to work in a shorter form, it's not as enjoyable as wholesale world-forging and expanding.

I'm working on a heroine for a series ,kind of a horror/occult fiction affair more serious than the "Dead Ringer" world. I have some good ideas and they need to get captured before my head melts!

I'm also cleaning up the plot arc for a mystery novella, which might also turn into a series. We'll see how it goes.

And finally - I need to set aside time every day to maintain my blogs here and on Blogger! I'm thinking of getting up earlier in the day and going to bed later in the evening to make room for daily tasks, then locking off more of the weekend for "writers nest" time to get the hard work done. I also want to make sure I GET OUT and experience more things so I can add a solid dose of reality to my words!
