It's been a slow process but, after six months of being unemployed and pretty unhappy about it, nearly going back to school, and finally landing a decent position, I'm finding the time and inspiration to write again. Look out world!
First, I'm going to take all my existing poetry, put them into a collection, and turn it into a free eBook. Yes, I said FREE - I don't feel like I could charge for these, not because I think they're awful, but because I'd feel really funny about it. Urgh.
Second, I'm working on "Dead Ringer" again, and hopefully in a couple of months will have a rough draft. I'm up to 30,000 words and I'm about 2/3 of the way through the plot arc, so I think I'm in good shape.
Third, I'm in the "plot and brainstorm" stage on 2 novellas, and in the "edit and expand" stage of a serial, so there's plenty going on to keep me busy!
In the meantime, I'm also learning new work skills (hardware and electronics to go with my 28+ years of software) which will help keep me gainfully employed.
By keeping myself focused on writing/publishing and engineering, I have lots of time and brainpower to apply to things. I definitely was dim before, trying to do so many things I was bad at all of them! Noooo, I have to FOCUS to accomplish anything truly meaningful! So, music gone, art gone, sculpting gone, video editing/VFX gone, and suddenly I have time to learn new things as well as polish off some old thorns in my side.
I'll post excerpts here at AuthorsDen as I scribble away. Just me, a computer, and a cup of Japanese tea (or a bottle of good Texas beer), the way Nature meant me to be!
