Preface for my latest fiction novel.
“Now it came about that when men started to grow in numbers on the surface of the ground and daughters were born to them, then the sons of the true God began to notice..that the daughters of men were beautiful..” Genesis 6:1-2
The time of the end is near, for the great day approaches. The world of men is over and the storm lies just beyond the door. It was foretold long ago, yet the signs were all but forsaken. And now the Ancient of Days’ wrath is upon all that walk the surface of the Earth whose heart is of stone. Why, the signs can be seen everywhere. War continues to rip the very ground apart filling the vast seas with the blood of the innocent. New and lasting idols have emerged, namely Mammon and Middage whose share is greed and corruption.
Famine, pestilence, and hatred plaque the lands as brother fights brother and children slay mothers. The young child is born and bread with the sword of hatred. The men and the women seek themselves a pleasure unknown to their complement, weaving what is wicked. Divisions between the masters and the slaves are insurmountable, yet the masters don’t recognize they are truly slaves and the slave knows not who his master truly is. Therefore, chaos is the underlined truth that rules them all.
Indeed, chaos born from a question. A cunning query masking a challenge originating not from this world, yet from another. A world that exists beyond the confines of time. One that is far too great for human understanding; too vast and immeasurable to behold. A place that the eyes cannot see, and the hands cannot feel. Where fleshly ears are of no value, and taste is of no consequence. Thus it is necessary to turn back in order to look ahead.
Turn back to a season when the heart of man was treacherous and fell short of the glory of the One who purposed it. The time of the great deluge. Yet even before. The time of the beginning. The true beginning.
