Finding good e-reads for kids

Parents, did your middle grade reader get an e-reader for Christmas? Are you now trying to pick out books for him or her to read? Finding suitable books can be quite a challenge. On the Amazon or Barnes and Nobles websites, you can try the keywords on the left-hand side, but you can’t really “drill down” to something fairly specific, like middle grade mysteries. Books are poorly categorized; sometimes you end up filtering out 90% of the books; other times you don’t filter out enough.
I have been mining Amazon and Barnes and Nobles for good e-books for the past few months and I have found that e-books generally fall into a few categories by price tier.
