Just Call Me Scoot!

Update on my life and broken leg!
Ok, so I went to the ortho doctor on Monday really excited. I have been doing everything I was supposed to do, I wasn't having any pain and I really wanted to get off crutches! My second goal was to be able to sleep without the boot. Hmmmmm. Boy was I disappointed.
Still no weight on my foot for another two weeks. Then I can use crutches and put weight on as I feel comfortable. Come back three weeks in the future. So,...we went to the healthcare store with a prescription for a scooter. Now picture this, manual scooter, four big wheels and a hand brake if I get to going to fast. A Hoveraround it is not! Takes a lot of space to make a turn, or go the opposite direction. It has allowed me a little more freedom, with a small basket on the handle bars I can go to the kitchen, put a banana, a bagel, and can of Pepsi in my basket and scoot right back to the living room and my recliner!
I used it last night to go watch the pool team shoot in play offs, and we took my crutches AND the scooter! Used the scooter to get around, but used the crutches to shoot a couple of games of pool. Just wanted to see if I could do it, and, well I didn't shoot any worse by moving around the table with one crutch and my pool cue stick for support! I'm hoping to play with my granddaughter Katlin in her pool tournament on Saturday!
Does having a scooter really help? Well I can get out more and I'm a little faster than slogging along with the crutches. But...I find I am using muscles that have been laying dormant for a loooonnnnngggg time! We are talking major aches in my thighs from balancing one knee on the scooter and using the other foot to push off. So, I have this little scooter for two weeks, then I should be able to put some weight on my leg. I can either use one crutch or I can maybe use a cane. I think my daughter has a really good cane that she bought when she had her knee operated on.
I had fun last night, visiting with friends and talking to adults that aren't family members...lol! But today, I am more than sore.
We shall see what happens, meanwhile, just call me Scoot!
