The Higher the Dam, The Bigger the Flood.
1/24/2010 3:13:43 AM
When the rain keeps failing and the river swells, somebody is going to get wet.

The government has temporarily kept GM and Chrysler alive and most of the jobs that go with it. They have also temporarily extended the life of some of the sick banks, too, and kept them in business. They’ve even let people temporarily keep the homes that they couldn’t afford to buy in the first place. All for votes. The Good news….Nobody got wet so far .. The bad news…Now everybody is going to get drenched in the very near future. .

This is what use to happen when someone got flooded out and lost everything they owned,….(i.e., S&L failure, Internet bubble, recessions…etc)

First of all, those of us on higher ground would take them into our homes to dry off, get them something to eat, and give them a place to sleep for the night. . We would comfort them and help them as much as we could to survive and get back on their feet. More often than not, the story had a happy ending when the victims started over and succeeded in being able to take of themselves once more. For as long as the rest of us were okay, there was always help and a chance to start over.

Floods I’m afraid are inevitable. They are going to happen sooner or later. When they do, lives are disrupted, people suffer, and then eventually recover. Business, bank and individual financial failures are also inevitable. They fail, people suffer, and eventfully the people recover, too.

We can build dams to lower the flood risks, but we can’t build dams to stop floods from happening altogether. We can build small dams to reduce the risks of business, bank and individual failures, too, However, that is not going to stop those failures altogether, either.

Unfortunately, there’s a slight problem with dams. When the waters start rising, we open the valves to let more water pass through . But when water keeps coming in faster than we can let it out,. it eventually flows over the top. Once that occurs the whole dam is usually going to gives way and collapse. Of course, the higher the dam, the more water, the more destruction .

By postponing the failure of businesses and banks that are no longer financially viable, they haven’t stopped the rain…They’ve just built the dam higher, and temporarily trapped more water behind it.

Yes, a new flood is coming alright, and it’s going to be a real whopper this time. It’s a little late now, but the simple fact is…You can’t stop the rain by handing out umbrellas. However, after it’s over, we can reduce the size of government so they won’t be able to build so many of those “Too Big to Fail” Dams in the future. Then again, if we restrict the government from throwing our money away on their crazy schemes and perks, it probabley won‘t rain as much, either.

Yeah, we’re in for some hard times alright. The worst part is .. The government has given away the relief funds to their friends, to buy their votes… and spent the rest building those “Too Big To Fail Dams.”
