Writing my next play, THE LAST SUPPER
7/18/2005 12:06:14 PM
I have started typing my next play, THE LAST SUPPER, into MSWord, beginning with the 3rd act ... because I have to get the dialogue and drama of the ending perfected, so I can work with laying the groundwork.

I have the play plotted and cast in my notes, and several rough draft dialogue sets for the complete play. I am now writing the draft for the work-in-progress first reading by an actors group. Fortunately, I have a superior group of talented actors who are willing to read my work. (One of the benefits of living in the New York City metropolitan area.)

I used to use scriptwriting software, but then I always had to have it available on the computer I was using, so I set up some simple formatting macros in MSWord which I can quickly replicate if I need to, on whatever machine I use ... as most everything these days that I come in contact with has MSWord or some translatable variation for conversion later.

THE LAST SUPPER is the last play in my trilogy about the metamorphisis of the lead male, Jake Celsius. I worked out the plot a few years back on a vacation to Lofoten in Norway. I've been tinkering with it ever since, as I wrote the other two, HUNTING THE ROAD KILL MOOSE and ON HIS STEPS, both of which are accessible here in my den.

HUNTING THE ROAD KILL MOOSE is in its work-in-progress first dramatization workshop draft. It has had its first reading by the actors group I mentioned. Which means, by the way, if anyone is interested in using it in a dramatization workshop, I would be available to work with the group or organization.

ON HIS STEPS is in its work-in-progress first reading draft and has been submitted to the actors group for a reading this fall. After which it will be edited to its work-in-progress first dramatization workshop draft, and become available for that presentation format.
