The Largest Book Festival . . . April 25-26, 2009 4/9/2009 6:07:13 AM Authors, Readers . . . Don't miss it, it's unbelievable!
Authors. . . A Major Key To Selling Books
By L. K. Craft
The L. A. Festival of Books 2009 is almost here! It is the largest book fair . . . As a first time author, back in 2007 I sold more books at the book festival than any other venue. This is the key to getting your book out . . .
I went all out for the L.A. Festival of Books. It was an amazing experience. Authorsden.com sponsored a raffle at my booth, and Larabar gave away their unique health bars to all who visited. I measure the success by how many books I sold, and it was a lot! Some of the attendees were touting interests beyond reading my novel. There were press people wanting interviews, people from reading clubs around the country buying books, and even a few writers and producers looking for great material.
Ok, listen up you first time authors! Lets admit we had a few dreams for our first released book. Unfortunately and quickly we learn it's difficult to get recognition in a world filled with books. That why you might want to consider the L.A. Festival of Books April 25-26, 2009. I remember the first morning when we were setting up, people were waiting in line at my booth to buy books, get them signed and take pictures. It's a good ego boost for all of us who have dilligently sat at our desk writing for years. I was shocked! It's a fast and intense two day experience and so much better than bookstore signings. Where else can you get a million people who are looking for books? The L.A. Festival of Books is different. It's UNBELIEVABLE . . My book sold so well, it really was the beginning of my book taking wings. I was almost out of books by the end of the two days. It was fun sharing my novel with interested people. I was shocked at the success of this experience. By the way, there were a lot of publishers there as well.
Two days after it was over, I filed my application and paid fees a year in advance for this year booth. All the success of the L.A. Book Festival did not stop there, as many of the book club buyers chose my novel for their clubs . . . I have continued to sell books as a result of that one weekend. I am sharing this information as a author . . . This sounds like an advertisement for the festival, but it's not! They don't need one. The exhibit booths sell out quickly . . . This is the one venue I would never miss!
