Mystify them, supensize them, electrify them and Cub fans have to accept the fact that the Cubs falling on their faces in the Fall is just as expected as breathing air.
You struggling authors, you struggling screenwriters, you struggling filmakers, you struggling singers, and of course the group I'm most familiar with, you struggling actors, you have to WOW THE HECK OUT OF THESE PEOPLE IF YOU WANT ANY SUCCESS. The book gods could smile at you authors and you could have a booksigning at that Big Borders or Barnes and Nobel in the middle of Manhattan or the middle of Beverly Hills and the people could still walk by and smile, glance at your book, and say "nice book" and BUY NOTHING. You filmakers and screenwriters could have your movies at a hundred of those film festivals and a few of the bigwigs could go to those festivals but still shrug their shoulders and SAY "GREAT FILM BUT WE JUST CAN'T TAKE ANYTHING ON RIGHT NOW BECAUSE OF OUR BUDGET." Of course you I know the frustrations you actors and actresses endure. That Director or Casting Director giving you that fake smile and saying "Oh we just love your acting and we'll call your agent in a day or two" only to be told 'you don't have the 'right look' but my sister in law's cousin's nephew or niece has that 'right look.' Allright you artists you need to get your mallets out and tell these people I'm not gonna take this nonsense anymore. Give them some kind of 'gimmick' so they can't think of a way of rejecting you. Author's write something that's just 'out of the ordinary' so nobody can say 'Ho hum I read it before.' Write about how well your tulips will grow say on Saturn. Filmmakers and screenwriters just come up with a new angle or new genre to get that bigwig to say "I must make that movie, the heck with that budget." Actors come up with a new style or gimmick. Wow them with your personality. I like to sing crazy songs like the French National Anthem during my audition. Remember the only THING YOU GOT GOING FOR YOU AGAINST THAT FAVORITE NIECE OR SON IN LAW IS YOUR PERSONALITY so hit them hard because any good actor can rememeber their lines well. AGAIN YOU'VE GOT TO HIT THEM WITH THAT MALLET SO YOU AREN'T JUST ANOTHER NAME OR FACE OUT OF A MILLION. Face it everybody and their brother is 'an artist'or 'writer' today. You need to stand out against the competition.
You people like my new made up word, supensize? I guess that's an example of a Fifism. GRRRRRRRRR LA and all this traffic. I'm driving down Melrose in the middle of a workday and the road is jam packed? I'm stopping at a coffeshop on Melrose to have a nice lunch and do a little shopping before I go to my waitress job tonite and the parking lot is full? Do people in LA work? Speaking of the streets in West LA I mean they're like one lane. The other lane is where the cars are all parked. No wonder why there's so much traffic on these streets.
I also did a little window shopping at the Grove/Farmer's Market shopping center on Fairfax and guess what, I saw a big shot at one of the bookstores. I won't tell you his name, let's just say he's not quite an A list actor today but he's still in strong demand for a lot of supporting roles. I also did a screen test with an 'A' list actress for a major film role a few weeks ago. I smiled and shook the actresses hand and said I was a big fan of hers after the audition and she just looked at me and said, "Well that's nice dear." OHHHHH Hollywood makes people so stuck up.
OK movie of the week reviews. Typical Double Os movie TOILET FLUSHERS, "Heartbreak Kid" with Ben Stiller. Advice just see the original with Cybil Shepard and Charles Groden and skip this, super super bad flick with some of the worst toilet joke scenes. "Good Luck Chuck." Let's say I saw five minutes of this movie and walked out. HALFWAY DECENT STUFF. "Michael Clayton," uh suspensful law suit drama in the lines of "A Class Action" or "The Verdict." and "Eastern Promises" which could have also been called "The Russian Godfather" because the plot line is similar to the Coppola classic only negative is "Promises"
is like any Mafia movie bloody. GREAT DOC. You people need to see 'My Kid Could Paint that' about an amazing little 'child prodigy' painter.
Finally the Cubs. You Cub fans need to accept the fact the Cubs will either stumble in the playoffs or the regular season as part of life. Like breathing, eating,or drinking. The Cubs stumbling should be expected like paying your taxes. The Cubs stumbling should be expected like brushing your teeth. The Cubs stumbling should be expected like a politician or lawyer blowing off a lot of hot air when he speaks. The Cubs stumbling should be expected like an LA traffic jam in the middle of the day. The Cubs stumbling should be expected like a rainy or snowy Winter's day in the Midwest. It's part of life SO GET OVER IT. WHEN THE CUBS WIN A WORLD SERIES WE WILL ALL BE LIVING UNDER ICE. MORE THAN ENOUGHT THOUGHTS FOR NOW.
