Omigosh I was attacked by a bunch of crazy pigeons and I am so disappointed how "The Exorcist" was omitted in this 'scariest movie of all time" survey.
I was driving to a shopping center and as soon as I got out of my old beatup pickup truck a bunch of crazy pigeons were walking all around my car and a few of them on top of my roof and on the bed of my truck. Why they came to me I have no idea. Some kind of mystics or magics or whatever. Or better yet did they see the inside of my messy cab and in thinking that since I'm kind of a sloppy person I must have some loose foodcrumbs somwhere? Well I shooed these silly 'sky rats' (that's what some people call them) off my truck, took out an old half eaten package of chips sitting in my cab, and threw them all around the parking area near my truck. I did notice an old lady sitting in her car staring at me and I stuck my tongue out at her and continued feeding the birds. I mean I wasn't littering because the pigeons gobbled up the chips as soon as I threw them on the ground. Anyways after I finished I cleaned my hands and sternly told these lazy birds, who were all walking around my truck like little zombies expecting more, "Now you pigeons need to put in a hard days work like everyone else and look for worms and crickets and nuts and seeds for your next meal and not to continue to expect 'free handouts.' I mean its almost like 'bird welfare.'" Well lo and behold the pigeons all flew away and landed on top of a roof at a nearby restaraunt. The strange mysterious power these animals have......
I can't believe some on line Halloween poll today where they were talking to a few celebrities about the scariest movies they ever saw and none of them mentioned "The Exorcist." A few mentioned what I consider really dumb and flat out silly movies which aren't the least bit scary, especially these 'horror movies' made in the 00s. The acting and 'fright scenes' are just so fake. The only thing 'horrible' about them is the plot.
"The Exorcist", however, was so well made and so realistically frightening. Nothing fake or corny about it. "The Exorcist" was so scary that when I first saw it as a teenager (Father would not allow me to see it till I was 13) I slept with my bedroom light on for like two weeks. "The Exorcist" is so scary that even when I see it today I jump like 10 feet everytime I hear someone slamming the door. "The Exorcist" was so scary I probably missed about half the movie the first time I saw it because I was always covering my eyes and my ears. "The Exorcist" was so scary that even today there is no way that I can watch that movie at night by myself. As for some of the corny movies 'the celebrities' mentioned as the scariest movie of all time, I would actually run out the theater if I saw the movie, NOT BECAUSE IT WAS SCARY BUT BECAUSE IT WAS SO BAD. Shame on those people to ignore the most frightening film one could possibly see.
Speaking of being bothered by a bunch of pigeons and horror classics, THE BIRDS needs to be discussed as among the scariest films of all time.
Speaking of old classic movies. I just saw a great film called 'Sunset Blvd' with Gloria Swanson and William Holden. Just a great story about a 'December May' relationship between a struggling young screen writer and wealthy middle aged actress trying to make a comeback. I can undertand why a movie like that is on that AFT Best 100 films of all time. Why the heck can't they make movies in the 00s like tbey did in the old days?
Marcus back to the schoolhouse tommorrow after a nice little vacation huh?
Movie reviews
Typical double Os toilet flusher of the week. '30 days of Night', already described this kind of movie in my discussion of 'horrible horror flicks above.' Saw it for about 10 minutes before I walked out.
Halfway decent, 'Gone Baby Gone, good crime twister eerily similar to 'Mystic River."
A great doc and a must see French film. "Terror's Advocate." Marcus mentioned it in his recent writeup.
Speaking of 'Mystic River' and 'Gone Baby Gone,' Boston is having everthing go right sports wise. Sox with a 2 game Series lead. Patriots may go 19-0? BC is no 2 and just beat Va Tech on the road. Also the Celtics got Garnett and the Bruins are also playing well. Why can't some of that 'Boston Leprauchan' magic rub off on the Chicago Teams?
Way way more than enough thoughts for now.
