It's getting hotter so you better start drinking more water
Just another silly poem type phrase that comes out of my head
It's only May and it was over 95 degrees out here in the San Fernando valley AT 5 O CLOCK. Wonder how bad July and August will be.
A lot of fellow gen yers look at me and can't believe I'm voting for McCain. I'm sorry but not everybody who votes for McCain has to have gray or white hair. My hair is still a shiny red (real not dyed red). My skin is still fairly smooth. There are a few twenty somethings like me who have conservative values so there all you Obama supporters.
Notice I don't even mention Hillary. Hillary are you like gunning for VP? That decision will come from Barack. He may like Edwards or somebody else. Why are you still in the race Hillary? Your fundraisers need to save raise money now for things more important like those poor people suffering in Burma and China. You're hurting Barack's chances Hillary but that's fine with me being a McCain supporter.
Fifi's Heath tips
The hot weather we're getting may be good if you need to lose weight.
Walk at least 6 mile a week wearing a hat and sunscreen so you can sweat some of that water weight off of you.
Go to the local pool after you do your walk and swim like 25 laps. You'll feel nice and refreshed after you do your workout.
Start eating all that nice cool juicy fruit instead of junk food when you get the 'munchies.'
Drink plenty of water, not that soft drink junk that has suger or 'aspartame' or whatever you call that stuff which is not healthy for you at all
I just saw a great great movie last night and of course it was on the boob tube and not the theater as it was made in 1963 and not 2008. (Can you truly call any movie made in the Double Os great? Thank God I'm an actress living in the Double Os as opposed to say the 60s as it would be so much harder for me to get auditions and find acting work because the competition was so much better)
The movie was 'Lilies of the Field' and it starred Sidney Poitier. It deals with this young fella who is just out of the Air Force and he stops at this like convent in the middle of the what California or Arizona desert and he helps these nuns who are recent immigrants from Eastern Bloc countries (like the former 'East Germany') build a church.
Anyways the movie is just so entertaining and I just love the conflict between Sidney with his African American 'Gospel' background and the strict no nonsense very 'German' very Catholic head Mother. played by Lilia Skala. (That's why i love being a Chrisitan even though I admire all the other relgions, it's just so diverse). Sidney called Lilia a regular 'Hitler.' I'm sorry but Ms Skala look like she could have been in one of old those World War 2 movies. She was just so tough and had poor Sidney doing all kinds of physical work for her 'convent' and for compensation big six foot three inch Sydney got like one egg and a cup of milk for breakfast.
There was just so many funny scenes in this movie like Ms Skala arguing with all these Mexican American parishoners on how to build her church in German and the parishoners talking back to her in Spanish and they have no idea what they're saying to each other. A regular 'Tower of Babel.'
All this time Sydney is laying back amusing himself watching everybody because he knew how to build the church
but he wanted to do it by himself but the parishoners were determined to help him. Anyways Sidney finally gave in, became like the head foremen, gave everyone directions and they finally built the church.
Such great dialogue, such entertaining actors including like a racist contractor who at first did not like Sydney but then changed his ways and helped him build the church and a hard drinking Irish American priest. They need to put movies like 'Lillies of the Field' and put it through some timewarp and send it to the year 2008 because I'm tired of paying 7 to 14 bucks to watch movies today when I can be just as amused watching a blank wall.
I also loved the music in 'Lillies of the Field.' Good music is something else you don't see in the movies today. I especially liked this song called 'Amen.' Marcus you said you met Jester Hairston, the writer of 'Amen' when he came to visit you and direct some songs for your high school choir? Jester was a real talented Juilliard and Tufts educated song writer who wrote many famous Negro Spiritual songs like 'Amen.' He also acted and sadly played a lot of stereotyped black roles like servant and field hand in movies like "The Alamo" and "Heat of the Night." Speaking of 'Amen' it was Jester who dubbed Sydney's voice when he sang 'Amen' with the nuns in 'Lillies.'
I think I'd rather listen to 'Amen' any day than any top 40 hit out today. I'd rather sing 'Amen' too, just stoke up the old voice using my training from high school choir and college glee club days. If I can't make it in Hollywood you people think there's any big demand for a white gospel singing girl?
Great songs from the past. "Tainted Love" by Soft Cell, that song's older than me. Marcus you were around my age when that song was big. Another one is 'Show me the way' by Peter Frampton. I want to go to the next Frampton concert the next time he comes to LA. Way more than enough thoughts for now. I need to go to the local racetrack and lay a few bucks on Big Brown to win the Preakness today. I could use the extra money to keep up these outrageous food and gas prices.
