Blogs by Patrick Joesph Schnerch
City of Gardens / VHES / The Facts 1/11/2009 1:24:13 PM This blog reveals the facts behind my motive. I am committed to the law and my morals for this publication to be true.
From February 1st to the 28th, we are on a blitz to sell 550 books with half the retail value going to charity. From a $25.00 retail value, $12.50 is going to the Victoria Human Exchange Society so that they can continue their fight against homelessness.
The whole idea for writing the book series is to provide awareness about mental illness, addiction and homlessness plus raise funds for charity. That is the sole reason for this five year project. With purchases direct from the author, we quarantee that $12.50 goes to VHES.
No matter how generous we are, if the book is sold from another outlet, the seller’s cut ranges from 25 % to 50% not allowing very much left for charity if any at all. This is not a gimmick for us to sell more books, this is the way it is in the business world.
Many do the mininum of charity work without affecting their business. I don’t have to worry about my business. My sole business is to raise money for charity. The only one that suffers from poor sales is the charity itself and that is the shame of it all. We are trying to provide a high quality product to our reading audience at the same time helping to put an end to homelessness.
These 550 books will generate over $6,000 for VHES hopefully in one month. I decided a long time ago that if you make a high quality product available, more people would rather pay $25.00 for it rather than spend the same money on a charity. This a simple fact of life. If the seller is using money for charity from that sale, again people are more likely to support you.
It’s a sad fact of life. There are benifits from donations such as tax deductions, but it is a poor way to make a penny by donating everything. We have to remember, the business pays 40 to 50% on income tax on every dollar made. No other business can do this and survive. West Coast Literary Productions can. We still pay our taxes and follow the rule book to the tee, but it is not neccessary to pay ourselves. This is where the money goes, straight to charity.
I thought I would lay out the facts for you so that you can be reassured that we guaranttee that our word is written in stone. Who else would make such a claim in writing and have it published on the net for the whole world to see. If I wavered from my promise, I would literally have millions of law-suits. As you can see that we are committed to do what we say and are regulated by the laws and our morals.
This claim has no other option, but to be legitimate. It would bring me great pleasure if my charity can function to its full potential and possibly expand in the next five years. With efforts and support of everybody, my dream would certainly come true. This is my personal motivation. I want to do my fair share for the community that saved my life. I too am a survivor of a life-time of mental illness and am a recovering alcoholic with a 25 year experience with addiction.
I have revealed to you that I am not off my rocker, but believe in what I am doing is neccessary for me. This blog is published on four different websites. If you still are hesitant in believing me, you can send a cheque or money-order directly to the charity yourself and receive a tax receipt. I want to thank-you all for reading this blog. This is one commitment that I would bet my life on.
