City of Gardens: The Invisible Society 3/11/2009 7:26:34 AM Mental Illness, addiction and homelessness awareness in Greater Victoria has certainly been on the rise since the conception of the city's plan to house and support 1,550 within this time. 'City of Gardens: The Invisible Society' is the second book in the series. Victoria, BC, Canada is a leader in the fight against homelessness in this province. This has been recently confirmed by the Auditor General. The second edition of 'The City of Gardens Collection' is well on its way. The city is making remarkable advancements through the cooperation and participation of government, institutions and the general public.
'City of Gardens: The Invisible Society' is doccumenting general observations of successes and challenges that the city is facing while trying to implement their plan.
The first book was a bit skeptical for the plan had a difficult birth, but 2009 is nothing short than remarkable. I have found two grass root organizations that both poccess incredible characteristics.
They invite and welcome the city's most vulnerable to their meetings giving them the opprotunity to speak and finnally be heard. We desperately need to unite these segregated communities together as one. We all deserve the same rights, freedoms and respect as well as any other Canadian. We are all human beings and we all bleed red.
Society has segregated itself from our most vulnerable thus neglecting, ignoring and pretending that they don't exist. After decades of stigma and discrimination, their words are starting to be heard. It is only a whisper right now, but the new book will change all that.
'City of Gardens: The Invisible Society' will mainly focus on those who have been outcasted from the rest of society. There will be a large portion of the book that will focus on this community and dedicate the book to these people allowing them to speak out. Although the title is 'City of Gardens: The Invisible Society' it will be living proof that their voice deserves to be heard.
This book will be used as an important tool for our most vulnerable to make noise and to be seen. The title is fitting for this is their platform to break the silence. The time has finnally arrived to break the barriers and mend old bridges.
This book will be serve as the voice from the invisible society. This book belongs to my friends on the street. I hope to give them the strength to stand up and be counted as a member of society, not as dirt.
This subject has been a hot topic for the past seventeen months, it is now time to put some meat onto the bones. We need the shout from the homeless to wake the city from its century long slumber.
'City of Gardens' The Other Side of the Fence' broke the silence to bring this heated subject to the people. Now that I got their attention, it is time for my friends to take centre stage.
