Life is Good! 9/1/2009 9:50:31 PM I have just returned to my work after a very long illness. Today is the first time in several months that I was able to make an entry into my next book. Within a few days of my return, some wonderful things have happened and gave me a new perspective of how important life really is. “The City of Gardens: The Other Side of the Fence” is making some progress in the publicity department. The nice part about it is that money is not the main focus, people are. Through the kindness of some people I would like to call friends are helping me out with some needed publicity.
A few kind gestures here and and some nice words there, and the magic begins. It doesn’t matter what task you choose to take, success is always based on the human spirit. This past year has been exceptionable. I have met and contacted with some very amazing people.
There was a young woman with a determination unmatched by any other person I have ever met. There was a man who devoted his life helping the homeless to live independently in their own homes. There is a politician whose only focus is on the people he serves. The faith community is fundamental to the wellbeing of our friends on the street and their souls. An executive director and two other co-workers run a major coalitition designed to service our mentally ill, addicted and homeless.
These people left a lasting impression on me and I felt that they all deserved to be featured in my next book, “City of Gardens: The Invisble Society.” My last book was quite harsh on society, but I felt that I had to wake the sleeping giant.
I had a couple of reviews which were both good, but one was able to see and share my disgust and wrote a review that accurately conveyed what I wanted to say. Several months later the book was featured as one of the four books chosen for September 2009 on their webpage.
Within a few days of that, I received a generous offer to have my book featured on their website as well. Both of these kind souls are very prominent in the literary world and are major contributors to this fine art.
Right now I have come back from a long bout of illness to return to work on the next book. I am feeling much better and am enthusiastic about getting back to my writing. As I returned, I have a few few turns of good luck. I don’t really think that luck had anything to do with it. It was from the help of some great people who are making the wheels turn. Thank-you…
