Standing Still

I am always amused at times in my life when my world seems to stand still. It's like it took a vacation for a while because I needed rest. Funny isn't it how these times seem to not coordinate with my expectation of life but give me a chance to recoup my strength and energy. These past few weeks have been one of those times. Nothing much happens. Plans are put on hold and friends seem to melt away and leave me alone in silence.
It isn't the silence that bothers me during these times, its the loss of contact with those who mean so much. They in their own way are living their lives in the rhythm of their world and cannot imagine the feelings I have for their absence. In time both of our worlds rejoin and begin a harmony that creates new energy and new experiences from which we express our futures together.
I guess its during these quiet stand still moments somehow communication occurs between friends and that bond that is called 'friendship' stays strong. It is nutured by a 'knowing' that all is well and our paths will cross whenever a mutual need arises. It's the timing of these path crossings that touch me. It seems that whenever my stillness requires a word or two from friends they appear as if by magic. They know just when to touch base and when to say just the right words to help me carry through my stillness to completion. I see those moments as 'magic moments', you know, miracles in action.
When was your last miracle moment? It's important to realize their presence and to acknowledge their affect on your life. Who was it that touched your life last? What was the circumstances around their visit? When did you last seek out a friend because you 'had that feeling' and responded to its call? Subtle communication between souls always has amazed me in so many ways. Those miracle moments are created at the soul level beneath the veil of the physical world. We cannot create these soul moments because they originate deep within us perhaps at the level or our DNA. No one knows why but everyone has experienced one of those 'knowing moments' and were always glad they responded to its call.
You've heard of animals alerting their owners of an inpending danger or heard of someone waking up from a deep sleep just in time to save a family from a fire or other disaster. Why? Answers to such questions must be left in the realm of the unknown except for those of us who believe in the Spirit and in the ability of one soul to touch another. You see, there is no need to have an answer for something that you know happens beneath the radar of your physical reality. It is a place of impossible discovery but of incredible importance to your journey.
During my still moments I listen for a whisper - a simple whisper - one that cuts through the veil of the physical world and gives me a glimpse of the wonder beyond. I have found that Spirit comes to me in whispers that are impossible to hear with my physical ears, however, those whispers can be heard when stillness surrounds me. Always be prepared for those moments because within them enormous growth takes place.
When you find stillness surround you remember to listen, remember to be aware, and remember to feel the presence the Spirit encompass you. It is in those moments when miracles happen and unprecedented growth occurs.
